Every class at APPA-NI runs in one of three purpose-built spaces, each fitted for the demands of the discipline it serves. Sprung flooring supports ballet, jazz and contemporary dance, allowing dancers to move with confidence and cushioning landings where jumps and turns are involved. A continuous carpeted surface gives rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatic tumbling a consistent, grippy base for handstands, rolls and balances, while a full-height studio with aerial apparatus creates the space needed for safe progression in this discipline.
Our centre in Castlereagh, Belfast was meticulously designed and finished to the highest standards, making it a specialist physical and performing arts facility of a type not otherwise found in Northern Ireland. From the outset, the building was planned around how movement is actually taught, with generous padding between blocks, airy open volumes and purposeful flooring choices. The result is an environment where students of different ages and abilities can train seriously without feeling crowded or overlooked.
APPA-NI combines multiple disciplines under one roof, including ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatic tumbling and aerial arts, alongside pre-school and adult classes and provision for participants with additional needs. Sharing a single, thoughtfully equipped venue means transitions between disciplines happen naturally, and learners are exposed to a broader range of techniques than they might find elsewhere. The facility creates opportunities for performers to cross-train, build versatility and grow within a welcoming, unique learning environment.
